Paneer Bhurji | How to make Punjabi Matar Paneer Bhurji | Dry Paneer Bhurji

Hola guys!! I am back with my love for Paneer!! It's Paneer Bhurji time!!

I have been keeping crazy busy from last 2 weeks. Work and other household chores has been taking up a little more than my 24 hours in a day so much so that there are so many blog posts pending to be published. I salute bloggers who have a regular 9 to 5-day job and still squeeze in the time to blog regularly. No whining, this is how it's going to be moving ahead, so I better find time to do something I love and do as my hobby.

How have you all been? We had a blast 2 weeks ago with never ending Onam celebrations.
28th August was Onam, which happened to be a Friday, and thus all celebrations were moved to weekends. Saturday we celebrated it with friends and their families and on Sunday with few relatives around here. For almost 3-4 days, both of us have been eating all the leftovers from Sadya and finally are back on track now. In case you guys aren't aware what is Onam and a Sadya, here is a brief gist from me. Onam is the harvest festival of Kerala, a southern most state in India and is celebrated for a span of 10 days and Sadya is a variety of vegetarian dishes served traditionally on banana leaf(unless you are from Northern Kerala, where people eat non-veg during Onam!).

I have managed to take a picture of the Sadya we had.

Coming back to the Paneer Bhurji, this is my saviour on days when I am not in mood to cook a very lavish meal but would still like to have something tasty. After many variations that I have tried over the time, this one is the best way I feel to make them. If you guys have a different method or add anything extra please let me know in comments below. I will be more than happy to try them the next time around.

Detailed recipe has been added at the bottom of the page.

  1. Hello Remya,
I would love to make your delicious looking dish but am confused by the item "1 Tb ginger garlic green chili, crushed" Can I assume you are calling for 1 Tb EACH of ginger, garlic and a green chili of some sort? If so, what chili are you recommending?
